RIP Brittany Murphy

The actress (and record artist) Brittany Murphy has died at the age of 32. She went into cardiac arrest early Sunday morning in LA and died before the arrival to the hospital.

She's most famous for her roles in Sin City, 8 Miles and Just Married.

Wolvesbayne Review

Based on the name and the poster, I thought this is going to be a werewolf movie. Wrong. Saying this is a werewolf movie would be the same as stating Harry Potter is a werewolf flick just because of one of the characters happens to be a werewolf. Two main characters in this movie are werewolves but it doesn't really matter since they spent only 2 minutes in a werewolf form. If you remember Tommy from TV series "Big Wolf on Campus", then you know how their werewolf form looks like:)
This is essentially vampire movie or should I say Underworld ripoff. It's made for TV and due to low budget, special effects aren't very good. Which is pretty bad since they try to force action into every scene. Then you get really fast camera cuts that try to disguise bad effects. The plot is really messy and it looks like the director didn't know what kind of film he wants to make. With the introduction of vampires, the pacing changes drastically and the movie becomes all about action. I'll spoil it all the way because I don't believe you'll want to see it after you read this review anyway:

1. Russel Bayne is egoistic douche businessman (imagine him as Colin Farell in Phone Booth)
2. He gets bitten by a werewolf
3. Lilith, the mother of all vampires gets resurrected. She wants to rise again and enslave the world. Vampires need to collect several talismans to fully recover her powers
4. Vampires want to recruit Bayne to their side
5. His love interest, who is also a werewolf, kidnaps him so they won't get him first
6. She trains him to control his powers (Wanted style)
7. One hour into the movie, 2 vampire hunters appear (Jacob Van Helsing and some chick). Suddenly they become the main characters. Two werewolves are now their sidekicks
8. They go to hunt vampires
9. Van Helsing kills vampire queen while former main character, werewolf, is fighting some random no name vampires
10. Last scene: suddenly portal opens in the sky and that means trouble. It's time to hunt some vampires again (Mortal Kombat ending)

I hoped Bayne would go berserk in full wolf form at the end of the movie but nothing like that happens.

I had a feeling that this movie tries too hard to be "cool".
Just look at all the cool elements it has:

-vampires
-werewolves
-hot girls
-fast cars and bikes
-katanas
-vampire lesbian kiss
-over the top Matrix style action

You would think that it would be at least fun to watch. It wasn't

For a B movie it had surprisingly good cast. I though Jeremy London's acting was great. His character was believable but it didn't really matter since the rest of the world was so cartoonish. Mark Dacascos threw some great kicks and showed some sword action but I wish he would do some spectacular moves since he's the only actor in the movie who can actually fight. But he played powerful vampire who could end fights with just one punch so there wasn't need for it.
Another decent thing was the soundtrack.

Why so Nicholson?

Did anyone else noticed how Heath Ledger suddenly transformed into Jack Nicholson in his last scene when he's hanging upside down from the building? His voice changes and he sounds exactly like Jack. He even kinda looks like him.Maybe they did it on purpose?

The trailer looks very epic. So we have robot that thinks he's human. Some early experiment or extremely dangerous terminator that will try to stab John in the back? We'll see...

Make your own stopmotion film

I just made one. It's really easy. It took me only a few minutes and it looks surprisingly good. You just need a camera and some software. Even webcam is fine and for the software, start with stop motion animator. It's free and really easy to use + it's only about 1MB. Then you know how it works...you're moving your objects while creating snapshots. After you finish, program will create you an AVI video from it. It's really easy, you should definitely try it.

I know it sucks but it worked. I did it right after installing the program and it took me only a few minutes. Presenting LEGO parkour:

Happy Birthday Mickey

November 18 is technically Mickey Mouse's Birthday! It is the anniversary of the day he was 'brought to life' by Walt Disney in 1928. He made his movie debut in Steamboat Willie, short cartoon directed by Walt Disney which was the first to combine animation technology with synchronized sound.

Iron Man Alternative Suit Concept Art

These are alternate suit designs that would have appeared in a Hall of Armor at the end of the first film. It's very unlikely that they'll use this War Machine concept in the second film.


War Machine

"Originally it was going to be called the MK IV armor and would have been weaponized swap-out parts that would be worn over the original MK III armor. Earlier versions were red and gold, and would have been worn by Tony Stark in the final battle sequence."

Stealth Suit:

"This next one is an attempt at suggesting "stealth" technology in the surface treatment of the suit. This was an idea that was played with early on in the MK 3 development, but was ultimately abandoned as not being classic enough. I revived and updated it for this special purpose suit."

Underwater Suit:

"This last one has a funny history. Throughout pre-production, every time we would present our designs for the suit, Avi Arad, the film's producer, would ask us for an underwater suit. Now I should mention that there was never an underwater scene in the script, but as the toy licencing is such a large part of the revenue from these films, there was a lot of pressure to use as many variations on the suit as possible in the film, all budgetary condsiderations notwithstanding. Needless to say, the underwater suit never saw the light of day, but in homage to Avi, I drew this one up as a possible addition to the hall of armor."

Finally there's a teaser trailer and it looks like crap, as expected. They didn't even try to make Piccolo green. They rather turned him into vampire.

Also Muten Roshi isn't pervert in the movie:
"We kept his main features, like his humor. But in the manga Roshi is a true sexual pervert, which wouldn’t work in a family film. So we removed that part of the character."

It looks like there's no Dragon Ball spirit in this movie.
