This is pretty impressive video presentation of the optical camouflage invented at University of Tokyo. It can make things seem transparent but only with the help of a special projector so it's far from ready for any real use but it's a sample of what could we see in the near future.
Tachikoma is a funny robot tank from "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex" anime. While original Tachikoma from anime is bigger than a car, this replica from Bandai is 9.5 cm high. It connects to computer via USB cable. It can move, play voice messages (original Tachikoma voice from anime by Sakiko Tamagawa) and play special mini games. Bandai will release it in February for 13,440 yen ($114).
